Casey A. Johnson

Casey A. Johnson practices in litigation, debtor and creditor law, secured transactions, and commercial litigation clients who undergo substantial financial distress.

Prior to joining Bousquet Holstein, Casey was a Staff Attorney for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. He has also served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Andrew T. Baxter, U.S. Magistrate Judge, and as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Margaret Cangilos-Ruiz, U.S. Bankruptcy Court.  This experience provides Casey with a fundamental understanding of the legal process, which he applies to the concerns and considerations of his clients.

Casey has been working closely with clients on bankruptcy matters, with particular emphasis on commercial and trustee work.  He is also providing needed counsel in helping his clients maneuver the challenges of workouts and loss mitigation, specifically in areas of mortgage foreclosures through the state courts or bankruptcy courts.

In matters of litigation, Casey has proven himself to be a trusted advisor in employment and civil service laws, specifically serving clients in matters of removal or discipline, Section 75 of the Civil Service Law, which provides basic disciplinary protections to certain classes of public employees where there is no contractual disciplinary provision, and individuals who are challenging dismissals for cause and wrongful terminations.

Casey also works with clients on:

  • Contract disputes
  • Article 78 Proceedings
  • Violations of the New York Human Rights Law
  • Title VII violations
  • Defamation cases

Casey is a natural problem solver and the clients he works with depend on his expertise to unravel complex legal situations through the litigation process. He encourages dialogue between both sides of an issue and encourages compromise in lieu of going to the less appealing alternatives of going to trial. Clients of the firm will find that Casey thrives on the diversity of legal matters in areas of litigation, workouts, and civil service laws which drive him to take extra time to fully understand your legal needs and goals.

Born and raised in Utah, Casey has put down roots in Central New York and is a resident of the developing Near Westside.  Casey is an enthusiastic and engaged community advocate. His personal involvement in the arts, culture and spiritual community provides him with opportunities to give back and to make an impact where he lives and works.

These outside interests work well in Casey’s practice, giving him a unique perspective on client challenges, and helping to provide local connections and points of reference with residents, business owners, and communities.
